Where to look for Fossils at Corton?

(Upper most part of the Forest bed) - 2002

Collecting is best done after intense heavy rainfall, which causes slippages from the top Bolder clay beds. Cliff falls are not common, but slippages take place regularly during winter months which is sufficient for collecting. Most of the beds in summer time are covered by vegitation.

Before the sea defence was built, bones from the forest bed were frequently found during periods of scouring. The forest bed has recently been exposed after years of being covered by the sea wall, but this is temporary while they rebuild the sea wall, the beach itself is fenced off. The forest bed, seen above, needs to be far deeper (scouring is required) and from the lower part of this bed, mammal remains used to be found.
